The Great Burning

The year will soon be at an end
And it is time to start sweeping up the fallen leaves,
Yellow, brown, and red leaves
From oak, beech, birch, and elm,
Time to start gathering them up into baskets
In readiness for the great burning.
Only the leaves of the holly are green
And have not fallen,
Glossy-green with - brilliant amidst them - red berries.
