On the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the Western Buddhist Order at the Manchester Town Hall in 1991 Sangharakshita reads a story he had written the previous year.The story concerns a young wanderer, Sumana, in Northern India at the time of the Buddha. Having left his master Sumana eventually takes up residence in a cave where he is visited by another follower of the Buddha. This elder wanderer is clearly very different from his strict master. But who, Sumana begins to wonder, can this mysterious character be?
